Students from all over the world (UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Brussels, Turkey, Russia, Denmark, to name a few) attended and worked very hard since late September. Many are staying to extend their studies. It was great having them all here! Congratulations and good work!

by Corey Pepper on September 18, 2008

Just heard from a very busy New Zealand student, Ben Swann. He just fished working with Phil Keoghan (Amazing Race) on a N.Z version of the show called “No Opportunity Wasted“, where he got to travel the length of the country in sports cars. He also starred in “Out of the Dark” (George Andrews Productions) and this week he’s appearing at New Zealand Fashion Week in Auckland. Is that all? No. On September 30th he’s off to L.A.

American and German Actor Martin Gruber

by Alan Nusbaum on September 7, 2008

As the Global Market place embraces our daily lives, actors also benefit in many ways. TVI Alumni Martin Gruber who works both in Münich as a TV series regular on “Storm of Love” and in Los Angeles in feature films just received a very special award in Nola, southern Italy for best foreign soap character, along with his cast-mate Susan Hoecke. (pictured recently in Münich with TVI’s Alan S Nusbaum)

The very successful Bavaria Film ProduktionSturm der Liebe” (Storm of Love - 28% market share average) knows no geographical boundaries - having been sold to more than 20 different countries ( Greece, Finland, Latvia, Poland, Canada……) it´s story of success keeps going and going. ( Storm of Love) “Tempesta d amore” has been a huge prime time success in Italy for the past two and a half years.

Martin Gruber and Susan Hoecke, the leads of the show, just revieved the “Premio Napoli Cultural Classic“ award in Nola, southern Italy, for best foreign soap characters. Matteo Garrone, the director of “Gomorra” , the Cannes Film Festival winner 2008, also received the “Premio Napoli Cultural Classic“.

Martin Gruber is represented in Los Angeles by talent agent Joel Klienman of Baier-Kleinman International (BKI)

Many actors from around the country and the world have experienced TVI Actors Studio’s renowned National Actor Intensive: The 5 Day Industry Boot Camp. This program spans 5 days and introduces actors to more than 20 top industry professionals (agents, casting directors, producers, directors) in either New York or Los Angeles, depending on which location they are interested in. The good news is that our October sessions run back to back, one week in New York and the next in Los Angeles. So, many actors take advantage of their vacation time and attend both. Pictured here are two of our International Students (Geert Hoes of The Netherlands and Bjorn Steinbach of South Africa) who had some great success making many contacts through the 5 Day Industry Boot Camp to help their transition to working in New York and Los Angeles very achievable.

The cast notables include German actors Christian Ulmen, Til Schweiger, Nadja Uhl, and Jana Pallaske, directed by Simon Verhoeven. In September Inez will be in Sweden shooting, “Liebe in Eriksberg” (Love in Eriksberg), a movie for the German Television Channel ZDF. The director is John  Delbridge. Cyclone Hits TVI acting workshop in Auckland

by Alan Nusbaum on August 10, 2008

christy-and-nick.jpg

Late last month, Los Angeles casting directors Christy Dooley, Head of Casting of “The Bold and the Beautiful” and Nick Anderson, who has worked in casting at numerous prominent Los Angeles casting offices were guest speakers at “TVI Actors Studio Down Under Tour” .
The event was held at UNITEC, one of the two notable acting schools in New Zealand. Twenty four of New Zealand’s top actors were in the workshop, while an audience of eighty Auckland actors audited the workshop and were able to be part of the question and answer towards the end of the session.
The event, held on a recent Saturday, was run while the one of the worst cyclones hit the North Island of New Zealand during the acting workshop.

The New Zealand Herald reported,

“A major storm in the Coral Sea off Australia’s northeast coast is beginning to develop and is heading directly towards New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland.
I’m becoming increasingly confident that a major sub-tropical cyclone will affect much of the North Island starting early on Saturday. While the path of this weekend’s storm still isn’t 100% clear its development certainly is. There’s talk on the two main NZ weather forums (www.nzweather.net and weatherforum.org.nz ) that the air pressure could drop to record levels for northern New Zealand/Auckland.”
