TVI Actors Studio Los Angeles member, Kelly McCraken guest starred on “The Mentalist“. Three scenes with Simon Baker. Kelly stated, “it went REALLY great”. It airs March 11 at 10:00pm pm on CBS. Casting Directors were Eric Dawson, Carol Kritzer and Robert J. Ulrich from the casting office of Ulrich, Dawson and Kritzer.

I wonder if you are like me. As a kid, when I saw someone my age playing a character on television, I wondered, “how did they get the job?” Even though I knew nothing about casting, agents, LA or NY, the idea that if someone was on TV, why couldn’t it be me-became my mantra. I continued to have those thoughts through High School and College. Over time, I eventually achieved my goals. If there is any advice I can give (now I am old enough to pass it along) it is this; It all comes down to “Learn By Doing”. Putting yourself in the best position to learn and grow with classes, meeting industry pros, remaining teachable. That is the key. So, follow your passion, create yourself, always be the student. So I work at TVI and I’m in Jonathan Strauss’ Advanced TV/Film class here as well, learning to make the most of my audition technique and acting skills for Film and TV. And I have to confess… it works! Today I went in for the NBC show Mercy – a small role – but using what Jonathan teaches turned it into so much more – not just as a good thing for the audition but for me as an actor! It made my audition much fuller and enjoyable so whether I book the role or not (and of course I want to book it!), I came away feeling secure and satisfied with my performance and that’s exactly where I want to be as a working actor.

New York Casting Directors Pat McCorkle (Pat McCorke Casting, Ltd) and Stuart Howard (Stuart Howard and Associates) were honored in Times Square today for 35 years of service in the Broadway community.
